Sunrise Lifestyle Centers Selects QRS Medical Devices

MINNEAPOLIS and CHICAGO ? October 8, 2002 ? QRS Diagnostic, leader in innovative design and development of software-based, PC Card medical devices, and Sunrise Lifestyle Centers, LLC announce that Sunrise has selected QRS devices for patient monitoring in its comprehensive outpatient rehabilitation facilities. Sunrise has chosen QRS? OxiCard(R) , SpirOxCard(R), and EKGCard(TM) devices.

“We developed our own electronic medical record system for pulmonary rehabilitation and physical therapy. We wanted affordable, software-based medical devices that would give our therapists and physicians immediate access to diagnostic data that we could automatically feed into our EMR,” says Sam Sugar, M.D., chief medical officer, Sunrise. “QRS PC Card devices are a critical element in our paperless IT strategy. With our EMR and QRS devices, we boost our therapists? efficiency by 30 percent by giving them instant information that they use with our physicians to modify patients? therapy in real time.”

“I use QRS devices in my internal medicine practice, and they have proven to be precise, reliable, and convenient to use on my laptop,” says Sugar. “And, on price, as far as I am concerned, QRS has no competition. Their PC Card devices are very affordable.”

“Dr. Sugar and Sunrise are committed to a practical strategy of going paperless in the creation, storing and use of clinical data,” says Spencer Lien, chief executive officer, QRS. “Their selection of QRS PC Card devices demonstrates that our technology streamlines the collection and management of precise physiological data.”

With its patented technology, QRS encodes the intelligence of physiological data acquisition and analysis into PC Cards. QRS PC Cards, with integrated sensors, slide into the PC Card drives of desktop, laptop and Pocket PCs. This makes off-the-shelf computers work as fully functioning medical devices. OxiCard is a pulse oximeter that provides instant, real-time assessment of pulse rates and oxygen saturation in the blood. SpirOxCard is the only combination spirometer/pulse oximeter. It measures pulmonary function and monitors blood oxygenation with one convenient device contained entirely in a PC Card. EKGCard turns standard computers into lightweight, portable, 12-channel electrocardiograph heart monitors.
