MBNQA Criteria Modified to Help Dentists
Sarasota, FL (April 14, 2001) - Internationally known Quality expert, William Scherkenbach has just completed a modification of the 2001 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Health Care Criteria specifically to improve the quality of Dental Practice Management. The Criteria, which were written for physicians and medical health care, needed to be revised to meet the special needs of dental health care. ?Dentists have been spoon-fed portions of Dental Practice Pabulum for too long. They need something substantive, especially for Practice Management Quality.? said Scherkenbach. He used the 7 major Criteria Categories as the backbone for his treatment plan that also reflects the management tenets of Dr. W. Edwards Deming.

The dentist as a leader The duty of a leader should be to set the aim of the Practice.
Strategic planning for your practice The first step in achieving your aim is found in the first step of Deming Cycle: Plan - Do - Study - Act.
