Diuretics were linked to reduced heart disease in a drug comparison trial involving 23,077 people with both hypertension and the metabolic syndrome, a cluster of risk factors for heart disease, report scientists from The University of Texas School of Public Health and Case Western Reserve University in the Jan. 28 issue of the Archives of Internal Medicine, one of the JAMA/Archives journals.
