Sit still in a quiet room without making a sound. Do you hear a steady, faint noise? What is Tinnitus?

Tinnitus is a hearing disorder that affects people to different degrees. Tinnitus effects young and old, men, women and children. For some, the sensation of ringing in the ear may be temporary, brought on by illness or loud noise - maybe after attending a loud concert - or resulting from a build-up of earwax. In some cases, hearing is restored to normal after, yet there are many cases where tinnitus is constant, a twenty-four hour persistent twinge that can lead to frustration and even depression for the person suffering from it.
